Carlee Joe-Wong is the Robert E. Doherty Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She received her A.B. degree (magna cum laude) in Mathematics, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied and Computational Mathematics, from Princeton University in 2011, 2013, and 2016, respectively. From 2013 to 2014, Carlee was the Director of Advanced Research at DataMi, a startup she co-founded from her research on mobile data pricing. Her work has received several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2018, the INFORMS ISS Design Science Award in 2014, and the Best Paper Award at IEEE INFOCOM 2012.

Jingdi Chen earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, in 2017. She went on to complete an M.S. degree in Statistics and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2019 and 2024 at George Washington University in Washington, DC, USA. Currently she is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on areas such as fairness optimization, network optimization, cyber security, multi-agent communications, and explainable-AI.

I-Cheng (Delphi) Lin | ichengl [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

I-Cheng Lin joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2019 and is co-advised by Professor Osman Yagan. He received his M.S. in Communication Engineering and B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2017 and 2015 respectively. His research interests involve analysis and optimization of large-scale networks such as social networks, transportation networks, communication networks, general network science and data analytics.

Eve Hu | yihu [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

Eve Hu joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2019 and is co-advised by Professor Bob Iannucci. She received her B.S. in Physics and in Computer Science with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. As a graduate student at CMU, she is interested in program decomposition for IoT systems and intelligent edge computing.

Tianshu Huang | tianshu2 [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

Tianshu Huang joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2021 and is co-advised by Professor Anthony Rowe. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2021. His research interests involve applying machine learning to embedded and distributed applications.

Baris Askin | baskin [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

Baris Askin joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2022 and is co-advised by Professor Gauri Joshi. He received his B.S. from Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, where he grew up, in 2022. His research interests involve machine learning in federated settings.

Baran Atalar joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2022. He received his B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University in Turkey. His research interests lie in multi-armed bandit problems and federated learning.

Ishank Juneja | ijuneja [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

Ishank Juneja joined CMU as a Ph.D. student in 2023 and is co-advised by Professor Osman Yagan. He earned an M.S. in Robotics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2023, and both his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2021. Ishank's research interests are broadly in Online Learning and Decision Making Under Uncertainty.

Harry Jiang | hhj [at] andrew [dot] cmu [dot] edu

Harry Jiang rejoined CMU as a PhD student in 2024. He was previously at CMU and in the group from 2020 to 2021 as an M.S. student in ECE. He received a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto in 2020. He has worked in industry as a Machine Learning Scientist at 3M Health Information Systems (now trading as Solventum) working on natural language processing and medical coding software for in-patient facilities. His research interests are in distributed and efficient implementations of machine learning tasks, as well as ethics, privacy, and security in the use of data for ML.

Yuhang Yao | Ph.D. student (2019-2024), joined TensorOpera AI as a Gen AI Research Scientist.

Marie T. Siew | Postdoctoral researcher (2021-2023), joined the Singapore University of Technology and Design as a Faculty Fellow, supported by the Faculty Early Career Award.

Taejin Kim | Ph.D. student (2018-2023), joined CACI Inc. as a Machine Learning Research Engineer.

Shouxu Lin | M.S. thesis student (2021-2023), joined Cornell as a Ph.D. student.

Jinhang Zuo | Ph.D. student (2017-2022), joined UMass Amherst and Caltech as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, advised by Mohammad Hajiesmaili and Adam Wierman.

Yichen Ruan | Ph.D. student (2018-2022), joined Meta as a Research Scientist.

Several M.S. students have also done research projects with our group over the years. They have joined Ph.D. programs at schools like CMU, Michigan, and Cornell, as well as companies such as Amazon, Google, Facebook/Meta, Goldman Sachs, and Microsoft.
