Create "2by2_unit" Layout

If you have not created the "basic_unit" layout yet, please click here.

Now that we need to use "basic_unit" to build a "2by2_unit" layout. Then we will build a mesh using "2by2_unit" layout. This tutorial is process independent. However if you choose to skip steps, pre-created tutorial Pcells exists in hp_cds (MOSIS HP 0.5um process).

    Part I. Create "basic_unit" layout
Part II. Use "basic_unit" to create "2by2_unit" layout
Next: Create a mesh layout with "2by2_unit" layout

    Part II. Create "2by2_unit" layout

    1. Start with a new layout cell view "2by2_unit". Please refer to Layout Edit Help on how to create a new layout.
    2. In layout window, click Instance icon, a Create Instance window will pop up:

Type in "basic_unit" in cell input.
    3. In layout window, carefully left click at x=2.0, y=0 to position the first instance of "basic_unit" at x=0.0, y=0.0

    4. Click Zoon Out icon to zoom out. Then carefully left click at x=36.0, y=36.0 to position the second instance of "basic_unit" at x=36.0, y=36.0

    5. The third instance needs to be rotate 90 degrees.

    6. In layout window, carefully left click at x=38.0, y=36.0 to position the third instance of "basic_unit" at x=38.0, y=36.0

    7. Similarly, place the fourth rotated "basic_unit" instance at: x=74.0, y=0.0

    8. Save your layout. We are done with "2by2_unit" layout.

Now that we can proceed to create "test_mesh" layout using "2by2_unit" cell we just created.
