Electrical Rule Check (ERC)

Part I . ERC verification.

  1. The ERC verification can only be performed on an extracted view . To learn how to create an extracted view click here.extracted view
  2. Once you have your extracted view open click Verify =>ERC.... This will bring up the ERC window.

  3. Make sure that in the Rules File field divaERC.rul is entered.
  4. Uncheck the Rules Library box.
  5. Click Run. Cadence will run the ERC.    You should be able to see in the CIW window that the check was started.  Once the analysis is completed an Analysis job Succeeded Window will appear informing you if the ERC was successfully performed.

  6. Click OK to close this dialogue box.  To see the errors on the extracted view click Display Errors in the ERC window. The errors will appear highlighted in blue on the extracted view.  To remove the blue highlighting press Remove all errors in the ERC window. extracted view with errors
  7. To get an explanation of each individual error is from the ERC window click Explain Error, and then click on an error in the extracted view.  The explanation will appear in the CIW window.  To have the errors explained in a separate window first click on text window in the bottom center of the ERC window.  Then Click Explain Error and finally click on an error in the extracted view..  error explanations
