Schematic Extraction

1. In the layout window(virtuoso editor)press F7 to bring up the MEMS menu function.
2. Click MEMS=> Layout -> Schematics.



3. After Cadence runs for a while an extracted schematic will pop up in a schematic editing window.
   
   
   
   Note: in order for the extractor to correctly recognize a combdrive, the two sides of combdrive have to connected to different poly0 layers to indicate that two sides are connected to different electrical nodes. Automatically generated layout does not have a poly0 layer and the user has to manually add poly0 layer in order for extractor to work correctly.
4. Notice this new schematic cell is named YourLayoutName_ext to avoid overwriting your original schematic.
