Cascade Microtech RF Probe StationDescriptionUsage PolicyYou need to get permission from Gary Fedder and Tamal Mukherjee first. Also, before using the RF equipment, you need to be trained to use the probe station, the connectors, adapters and RF cables, as well as each of the RF analyzers and sources on the rack. 5 training sessions, each lasting about 1 or 2 hours are needed. All use must be logged in the log book/sign-up sheet. Note any problems you have on the sheet or better yet email the superusers. Also, please get permission from Gary Fedder, Tamal Mukherjee or the superuser before you make any changes to the lab configuration. All permanent changes need to be logged in the logbook. This means that equipment should not be moved in and out of the lab without prior permission. Reservation Policy The reservation calendar for the Lab can be accessed from the Andrew Calendar (resource "REH 324 RF Lab").

Standard Operating ProceduresThe camera and microscope are on a counterbalanced sliding rack. When you first start setting up at the probe station they will probably be raised up as high above the stage as they go. When you have your probes in the general place you expect to want them, just smoothly slide the microscope down, making sure none of the objectives bash into probes or anything else on their way down. Then whenever you need access to the area under the microscope again, just slide it back up out of the way. Please leave it up when you're finished. Turn on the probe station (right side), the lamp power source (on the air table) and set the lamp intensity (small box with a knob, on the air table or the rack) to 1/2 power or higher. Log on to the computer and start Nucleus. On the top menu bar, turn on the auxiliary power, which is the plug and socket icon --this is the power source for the camera. Also turn on the lamp with the light bulb icon if it's not already on. The camera icon brings up the camera view. In this window you should now see whatever the microscope is focused on. On the left side another menu of icons contains an icon which will bring the stage out to the loading position... Application NotesIf the camera image on the screen becomes fuzzy, the right side won't update properly and the image doesn't track at speed, check the computer's display settings. The colors should be set to 16-bit color. Useful LinksAgilent Calibration VideosMiscellaneousAlways log all problems. If you do not log a problem, and the problem is traced back to you, your access and use privileges will be revoked. Always cap the connectors using the rubber caps. If you find that the connectors are uncapped, please let the superuser know, and abort the use of the RF Lab. If you lose a cap, notify the superuser, and log the problem in the logbook. If the house air pressure or vacuum system is down, please contact Chris Bowman as the nanofab has several resources that also depend on the house vacuum, and he knows whom to contact in FMS |
